SSC CGL 2025 Exam Date: Major Reforms Announced
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially confirmed the SSC CGL 2025 exam date for September 2025, along with several major reforms aimed at improving the examination process. These changes address long-standing issues such as technical glitches, Aadhaar verification delays, and candidates travelling long distances for exam centres.
In a recent announcement, SSC Chairman S. Gopalakrishnan highlighted that the reforms are designed to make the SSC CGL 2025 exam more transparent, fair, and candidate-friendly.
Key Changes in SSC CGL 2025
Exam to be Held in a Single Shift
For the first time, the SSC CGL 2025 exam will be conducted in a single shift instead of multiple shifts. This ensures uniformity, preventing variations in difficulty levels across sessions.
Centres Within 100 Km Radius
To reduce travel stress, SSC will now allot exam centres within 100 km of a candidate’s location. While around 80% of candidates already receive nearby centres, this percentage will increase to 90% or more under the new system.
Fair Scoring with Normalisation
The commission will continue with its shift-wise normalisation system to ensure that no candidate is unfairly disadvantaged due to variations in question paper difficulty.
Vendor Restructuring for Smooth Exams
SSC has divided exam responsibilities among four separate vendors –
Exam centre management
Security arrangements
Online application handling
Question paper preparation (directly monitored by SSC)
This restructuring aims to avoid past technical issues and streamline exam management.
