The Stark Reality of OP Jindal’s Campus Issues: 5 Alarming Problems Students Are Facing

OP Jindal

Students at OP Jindal Global University (JGU) are expressing growing frustration over a series of significant infrastructure failures, leaving many to question the value they receive for the institution’s steep tuition and housing costs. Recent incidents, from flooded dorm rooms to a collapsing library ceiling, have ignited a firestorm of criticism online and on campus.

The trouble began in SH11, a boys’ hostel block less than two years old. According to a student in Room 616 at OP Jindal Global University, his air conditioning unit “suddenly burst open and water started flowing.” Despite calls to the maintenance service, Good Host Spaces (GHS), help didn’t arrive for 20 minutes. By the time the situation was under control, water had been gushing for two hours, destroying charging ports, phones, and other personal items. “We bid for this room, and this is what we get,” the student lamented.

The incident quickly gained traction on social media, with a video of the flood attracting widespread condemnation. “10 lakhs for a year includes a bed, shower too? Damn crazy deal,” one user commented, highlighting the high cost of living at JGU. Many pointed out the silence of student influencers who typically promote the university’s lavish facilities, while some alumni noted that the newer hostels seem to be of a lower quality than older ones.

This wasn’t an isolated event. Several other students have reported persistent water leakage in the newer hostel wings, with walls often seeping and rooms flooding during rainfall.

OP Jindal University Addresses Concerns via Email, but Doubts Persist

In an attempt to manage the growing anger, the university issued an email acknowledging “air-conditioning issues in some residential hostels” and announced a “temporary suspension of classes.” While the administration described the situation as “unusual and unprecedented,” many students felt the response sidestepped the core issue of recurring structural problems in new, expensive buildings. The email’s closing line, “Your comfort and well-being are our top priority,” struck many as hollow.

Fueling the outrage, a section of the ceiling in the OP Jindal Global University Library suddenly broke apart and collapsed just days later. While no one was injured, the event amplified student concerns about campus safety and administrative competence. The news went viral, with students sharing mocking comments like, “Final Destination, Jindal Edition.”

Online forums became an outlet for their exasperation. “Tell them to migrate all students and shut the college, because they can’t handle it,” one user wrote. Another sarcastically commented, “Would love a mail from the VC about this too, cause that makes everything better, right?”

For an OP Jindal that prides itself on its world-class image and charges some of India’s highest fees, these incidents have created a stark contrast between perception and reality. The recurring question echoing in comment sections is a simple but powerful one: “Are we paying for this?” With bursting AC units, waterlogged rooms, and collapsing ceilings becoming the new norm, students at OP Jindal Global University are left wondering if the premium price tag guarantees even basic safety and quality.
